The Time Has Come

There is much that came before this, but I am launching this incomplete website today because what I want to tell you about is so important relative to the state of the world and is of such urgency that I cannot wait any longer. I am trying to make a statement and a mark now, do what I can in the time I have left here on this beautiful planet; as are others, before the world hits another tipping point, before it is too late, before we make the earth uninhabitable for all that inhabit it now. Look around you at the world. Not just your little life, the whole world! Times are dire. I’m just trying to do whatever I can do to make the world a better place, not just for myself, but for all its inhabitants. One thing I can do is try to reach as many like-minded people as I can and not only motivate but facilitate change. Much change originates with acceptance of other people’s perspectives.

One person’s perspective I have come to appreciate is Dr. Jeffery Sachs, current Director of The Earth Institute at Columbia Univeristy. Wednesday May 27th, I watched a discussion on Charlie Rose with Sachs about his new book: The Age of Sustainable Development. In that interview, Dr. Sachs states that, “…the environmental crises are definitely deepening… and they are deepening at the global level… so balancing the growth with the environment is one of the big big themes for the new goals… ” of global governments. Jeffery Sachs is not a small thinker, he is a capable thinker, an analyst of global proportions, taking on issues like balancing growth with the environment, decarbonizing the world economy, and reducing income inequality, the politically correct phrase for poverty.

How can one not listen to what he has to say? Make it a point to watch (http://www.charlierose.com/watch/60567494) the interview and read his book. I can’t say enough about it here tonight, except that this will be a prelude to the future.
